The central vision of CeTI is to enable people to interact in near real-time with cyber-physical systems (CPS) in the real or virtual world via intelligent wide-area communication networks. Such advances go far beyond the current state of the art in computing and engineering: Intelligent communication networks and adaptive CPS for quasi-real-time cooperation with humans require mutual online learning mechanisms, which pose a crucial challenge.

To address these challenges, CeTI will conduct unique interdisciplinary research and important open research topics in the key areas of human control complexity in the human-machine loop, sensor and actuator technologies, software and hardware designs, and the communication networks as the basis for several address novel use cases categorized into medicine, industry and the Internet of Skills.
